YOGA VENTURE

MAY 31 - JUNE 2

Yoga Venture is a weekend-long event from May 31 to June 2 at Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing in rural Craig County, Virginia. The event is designed to help you relax, refresh, and revive amidst the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of our nearly 500 acres of fields, forests, mountains, and streams.

Yoga Venture activities include yoga sessions, wine tasting, rhythmic drum circles, and a captivating opening fire ceremony. Start your day with invigorating wake-up yoga, unwind with healing sound bowl baths, and explore various activities such as meditation, unique vendor offerings, and astrology workshops. Plus, look forward to a special live outdoor music performance, details to be announced.

EVENT SCHEDULE

YOGA VENTURE

FRIDAY:

  • Begin your journey with an afternoon of relaxation and connection. Participate in our welcoming yoga sessions designed to align your body and mind.

  • Indulge in a special wine tasting, complemented by carefully selected appetizers, exclusive for weekend pass holders.

  • Immerse yourself in the rhythmic beats of our drum circles, creating a harmonious atmosphere.

  • Conclude the evening with an enchanting opening fire ceremony, setting the tone for the weekend.

SATURDAY:

  • Greet the day with sunrise and tranquility at dawn.

  • Engage in yoga classes and come together to expand your mind in workshops that delve into ancestral healing, astrology, and the deeper teachings of the ancient practice of yoga.

  • Delve into the mysteries of the stars with astronomy, astrology, tarot readings, reiki, and breath sessions. You may also weave in some fairy hair or buy some batik clothing, jewelry, and sea charms.

  • Experience the soothing vibrations of sound bowl baths.

  • Enjoy guided or unguided outdoor activities, such as hiking, tubing, canoeing, and floating, to connect with nature.

  • Anticipate an evening of vibrational kirtan music after dinner and a beautiful offering of yoga nidra under the stars.

SUNDAY:

  • Start with sunrise or morning meditations to reflect and rejuvenate.

  • Participate in the final yoga sessions of the event, focusing on harmony and gratitude.

  • Join in the healing and gratitude ceremony, a powerful way to honor and conclude the experience.

ACCOMODATION

When purchasing your ticket, you will find the option to camp on our property or upgrade to a room in one of our lodges.

CAMPING

Embrace the great outdoors with our camping options. Every weekend pass includes access to communal camping sites on a first-come, first-serve basis. Set up your tent among the trees or under the starry meadows for a true connection with nature.

For added comfort, upgrade to a private campsite. These designated spots come equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for a cozy evening outdoors. Firewood and ice will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

LODGING

If camping under the stars isn't your style, opt for the comfort of our rustic log cabin lodges. We offer double occupancy rooms, providing a cozy and comfortable stay. Whether you’re attending with a partner or friend or prefer a room to yourself, we have the accommodation to suit your needs.

 

Our lodges have shared bathrooms and showers, ensuring convenience and comfort. Bedrooms vary, with some offering double beds and others single bunks. Please specify your preference in the comments section of our ticketing form. All linens and towels are included.

Whether you choose to camp or stay in our lodges, you'll have access to all the event facilities, including multiple bathrooms, a large common bathhouse, and shower house for all guests, ensuring your needs are met throughout the weekend.

Our accommodation options are designed to cater to a range of preferences, ensuring that every guest can enjoy Yoga Venture in comfort and style. Choose the option that best suits your needs and get ready for a weekend of relaxation and rejuvenation.

We provide a variety of clean and convenient bathroom facilities to suit all our guests. Each lodge comes equipped with multiple bathrooms exclusively for lodge guests. For broader accessibility, a large common bathhouse and shower house are available to all attendees. Additionally, we have strategically placed port-o-johns near the campgrounds for those camping or exploring the grounds.

FOOD AND DRINK

Exclusive Wine Tasting and Appetizers:

Join us for an exclusive wine-tasting event on Friday evening, specially arranged for weekend pass holders. This elegant affair will feature a selection of fine wines, each thoughtfully paired with a range of appetizers to complement the flavors.

 

For those who wish to indulge further, bottles of wine will be available for purchase throughout the weekend, allowing you to enjoy a glass whenever you desire.

Diverse Dining at The Outpost:

Our Outpost will be the heart of dining from Friday evening through Sunday lunch, offering a range of purchase options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

A special menu for the Yoga Venture event will include vegetarian and vegan options, ensuring that all dietary preferences are catered to. Alongside these choices, we will offer other healthy and delicious meal selections to fuel your body and spirit.

 

A selection of beers and wines will also complement your meals, providing the perfect accompaniment to your dining experience.

Lindsay McKinnon

Somatics Coach & Movement Teacher

Lindsay McKinnon has grown up at Wilderness Adventure.  She is a seasoned Mom and a Trauma-informed Integrative Healing & Somatics Coach. With over 20 years of experience as a Massage Therapist, Childbirth Doula, and Qoya Inspired Movement Teacher, she coaches individuals and groups to equip them with practices and techniques to navigate stressors and pain points, find balance deep within themselves, and a renewed presence that is aligned in mind and body to build momentum for future goals and desires. She teaches wellness retreats and workshops for college students, healthcare workers, and organizations supporting their communities to become more resilient and connected in life and work. She loves to travel and play and is pretty good at doing both!

Somatic Yoga and Healing Facilitator

Join Martha Kastler for an accessible practice that helps relieve chronic pain, postural imbalances, and tension and welcomes ease and deeper self-awareness. The class will primarily focus on moving slowly, connecting deeply, and allowing what is in the way to be transformed. Muscles will awaken and lengthen without stretching. You will be able to listen deeply within and enjoy discovering greater acceptance, love, and equanimity.

Neda

Session Instructor

Neda is active in fitness, dance, yoga, movement, and creative communities. Neda is a fully certified personal trainer and yoga group class instructor. Neda grew up in an active family with a background in fitness, particularly her father who was a powerlifting world champion. She has been teaching and training for over 20 years! Her passion is empowering individuals and groups to become stronger physically and mentally. Neda is a lover of mountain biking, nature, singing, writing, travelling, painting, and music.

Jill Loftis

Yoga & Astrology Instructor

Jill Loftis is an astrologer, mystic, yogi, and mom. She came to study and learn astrology as a student of the Kriya lineage through the branch of Goswami Kriyananda and The Temple of Kriya Yoga. She is the founder and former owner of Uttara Yoga Studio in Roanoke, VA. In addition to practicing astrology and teaching yoga, she offers spiritual counseling services and tarot readings and leads workshops and trainings on meditation, breathwork, and life transformation. She lives in Southwestern Virginia with her husband, Benjamin, and enjoys international travel, gardening, good food, and chicken watching.

Antonio Stovall is a Holistic Wellness educator, certified in Kemetic Yoga, Mindful Meditation, and breathwork. He teaches African American culture at William Fleming High School and has gained nationwide attention for his program's positive impact on students. He is also a social media influencer, thought leader, and owner of Ancestral Perspective LLC. Joy Tru

Session Instructor

Joy Tru is a song leader, performer, singer/songwriter, and voice teacher. She leads a form of community singing called circlesinging, where she leads groups of people in song, rhythm, play, movement, and body percussion games that allow people to connect with each other, their body, their spirit, and the earth. She strongly believes that each and every person has an authentic voice that deserves to be expressed, heard, and loved. She has been singing kirtan informally for over a decade, and loves to accompany Deborah Marks with harmonies and buffalo drum. She also plays harmonium and channels her own kirtan songs.

What to Bring to Yoga Venture

To ensure you have the best experience at Yoga Venture, here's a list of essentials and recommended items to bring along:

Yoga Equipment:

  • Yoga Mat: Essential for all yoga sessions.

  • Optional Yoga Props: Including blocks, straps, or a yoga towel.

Appropriate Clothing:

  • Bathing Suit: For any water-based activities or just relaxing by the creek.

  • Comfortable Shoes: Suitable for walking or hiking around the property.

  • Rain Jacket: Be prepared to stay comfortable and dry for any unexpected showers.

  • Water Shoes: Ideal for creek time or any water activities.

​Towels:

  • Beach Towel: Bring one for drying off after creek time or lounging outdoors. (Note: Shower towels will be provided for lodge guests.)

Personal Items:

  • Musical Instruments: Feel free to bring your instrument for impromptu music sessions or personal enjoyment.

  • Sun Protection: Including sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

  • Insect Repellent: To keep the bugs at bay, especially in the evenings.

Hydration and Snacks:

  • Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout the day. Reusable bottles are recommended for environmental friendliness. Water bottles and other items are available for purchase in our camp store!

  • Snacks: Pack some healthy snacks for energy boosts between meals.

Miscellaneous:

  • Mountain Bike: To explore our awesome trail system or to get around the property!

  • Personal Toiletries: Include any essential personal care items you might need.

  • A Small Backpack or Daypack: Handy for carrying your items around the property.
